Competition Law: A Powerful Sword and Shield to Fight Climate Change

In the second event in the Cambridge Seminar Series on Law and the Climate Crisis, Simon Holmes will discuss how climate change is relevant to all areas of competition law. Come to Hughes Hall to hear Simon speak at 4pm on 20 November, and stay for free drinks and networking afterwards.

This talk will show how climate change is relevant to all areas of competition law including that on anti-competitive agreements; abuse of dominance and mergers.

It will show how it can be used as a sword to attack agreements restricting competition on environmental factors, or unsustainable practices as abuses by some of our most powerful companies. It will also show how competition law is adapting to allow businesses to work together to  put their industries on a more sustainable footing.

Simon Holmes has written and spoken widely on sustainability and competition policy and is a Visiting Professor of competition law at Oxford, a member of the Competition Appeals Tribunal, and a legal advisor to ClientEarth.
