The Centre for Climate Engagement is supporting the COP29 Climate Champions’ campaign to climate-proof SMEs. We are seeking collaboration and evidence from academics to inform an event taking place during COP29.
The COP29 Climate Proofing SMEs Campaign is a global initiative to empower SMEs by improving access to tailored resources and capacity-building support, celebrating and showcasing their climate leadership, and encouraging large organisations to collaborate with SMEs in their value chains. As a partner to the Climate Champions’ campaign, CCE is calling on academics to provide expert evidence to support SMEs in their transition to climate resilience. This includes any area of climate-related research that could contribute to a conversation at COP29.
Dr Eldrid Herrington, Academic Engagement Director at CCE said:
“The High-Level Champion has identified a challenging and opportune arena for climate action as part of the COP29 priorities: climate proofing SMEs. Academics around the globe have studied this issue and its complexities; the call to climate proof SMEs represents an opportunity to gather evidence, identify gaps, and deploy networks in response to this critical issue.”
Working in collaboration with global partners and networks, the Climate Champions are looking for academics to:
- Engage in an online dialogue on this subject with colleagues across the globe on 23rd October 2024
- Provide links to their existing research publications in this broad subject area and/or brief plain language summaries of their research
- Potentially contribute to a high-level policy focused event at COP29, and inform conversations between the climate champions and key policy makers
