London Climate Action Week (LCAW 2025) will take place 21-29 June 2025. The Centre for Climate Engagement (CCE) will be represented at several events over the week, including a free online webinar.

Rapid Evidence Synthesis: Informing Environmental Action

Dr Eldrid Herrington, Head of Academic Engagement at CCE, will moderate a discussion on how Rapid Evidence Synthesis can support effective environmental decision-making. Join us on Wednesday 26 June from 14:00 to 15:30 for a webinar exploring how this powerful research method can inform policies to address climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss.

The expert panel includes Dr Lidia Borrell-Damián, Secretary General of Science Europe; Dina Eparkhina, Senior Policy Officer at EuroGOOS; and Professor Dr Daniela Jacob, Director of GERICS and Honorary Professor at LEUPHANA University. They are joined by Dr Ismael Kawooya, Head of the Center for Rapid Evidence Synthesis (ACRES); Professor Dr Emily Shuckburgh OBE, Director of Cambridge Zero; and Professor Dr Diana Ürge-Vorsatz, IPCC Vice-Chair and Professor at Central European University.

This event is co-organised by the Climate Research Initiative Netherlands, Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), French National Research Agency (ANR), Hungarian Research Network (HUN-REN), Lund University, Research Council of Norway (RCN), University of Cambridge, and Science Europe.

Lara Douvartzidis, Senior Legal Executive at the Net Zero Lawyers Alliance, will speak about projects including the Law and Climate Atlas UK and US, a joint initiative developed by the Centre for Climate Engagement and the Net Zero Lawyers Alliance. The Atlas highlights how climate change intersects with more than 40 areas of law and aims to support the development of practical legal responses to climate challenges. It has received over 20k views. The Net Zero Lawyers Alliance speak at several events during London Climate Action Week, including Lawyers, Bar Associations and Legal Alliances, hosted by the International Bar Association on 25 June from 16:30 to 19:00.

This panel brings together legal leaders from around the world, including representatives of bar associations and legal alliances, to explore how climate change is reshaping legal practice and professional responsibilities. The discussion will examine the role of legal bodies in supporting climate-competent lawyering and consider what further action is needed to equip and empower lawyers as champions of sustainability. Speakers include Steven Richman (International Bar Association), Estelle Dehon KC (Bar Council of England and Wales), Nina Pindham (UK Environmental Law Association), Lara Douvartzidis (Net Zero Lawyers Alliance), and Alasdair Cameron (Law Society).
