Seminar synopsis:
This seminar will explore the critical intersection of planning law and climate change. With the escalating impacts of climate change, planning law has an important role to play in mitigating risks and promoting sustainable development. The seminar will focus on key cases – including the landmark decision in the Supreme Court in Finch – and legal frameworks, such as the Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment regimes. Finally, the talk will address emerging challenges in bringing litigation in this area.

Ruth Keating is a barrister with 39 Essex Chambers, with a particular interest in energy and construction disputes, commercial, environmental and public law.
